Silverleaf Bahia

Bahia absinthifolia

Description:

Silverleaf Bahia is a clumping perennial that spreads by short underground stems. Leaves and stems are gray-green and covered with silvery hairs. The overall plant has a light silver color appearance. Plants are mounding and tidy. 12 to 16 inches tall and spreads 12 inches wide. Rainfall or irrigation determines the plant’s overall height. Plants are fast-growing. If plants get too tall or untidy, cut the plant back half-way to rejuvenate and encourage new, fresh growth.

Habitat:

Sabino Canyon is a natural desert oasis located in Tucson’s Coronado National Forest and is home to spectacular desert landscapes and abundant wildlife. During the winter and summer rainy seasons, pools of water form in rocky outcroppings that wind up among hillsides resplendent with palo verde trees, cholla and prickly pear cactus and graceful groves of ocotillo.
