Ichneumon Wasp Pupa

Subfamily Campopleginae

Description:

I originally thought this was poop on grass :) Then I found 2 more in different plants. It's a white and brown capsule attached to arching grass.

Habitat:

Deergrass in the backyard.

Notes:

The emerged wasp can be seen with the pupa at http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/114... This is either a species of Hyposoter or Campoletis.

I just got one in my Turi tree today :)

Ignacio, a wasp came out of mine yesterday :)

It does seem to be the same shape. Interesting that yours is dangling and attached to "threads".
