Lizard (camouflaged)

Description:

Invisible lizard (well, almost) until it moves. Small. Faint dirty white and black marks on its back that breaks up its outline very well. I am not sure if these are juveniles of a certain species or adults of another...I saw many of these...and all were the same size which makes me wonder if they belong to the same generation or are actually adults...I am stuck because I cannot ID them. I have cropped the third photo so that you can " see" it.

Habitat:

Chitradurga Fort, Karnataka, India may well be a lizard paradise. In a short trip of a couple of hours I saw five different types of lizards...including one that was almost as thick as a sausage! The place is full of rocks of all sizes including HUGE boulders, tufts of grass, shrubs and some trees. Lots of ruins too...to hide in.

Lauren, you should see the boulder-strewn areas near here and Hampi where we were headed...absolutely magnificent and you can spenf a lifetime finding hidden shapes.

Thank you, Jim Nelson. If it didn't move you really could not see it....and it knew that!
