Red Flowering Quince

Cydonia japonica rubra

Description:

Early bloomer - one of the first shrubs to bloom in the spring. The Red Flowering Quince produces large clusters of double fiery scarlet-red flowers resembling rose buds in April-May. They have attractive shiny green foliage with reddish tinge. The Red Flowering Quince prefers sun, but will grow in partial shade.

Notes:

This shrub is 10 years old and about 7 ft high and 6 ft wide. It is setting fruit for the first time this year.
