Description:

Noticed this crafty creature at the hummingbird feeder. Family: Brushfoots (Nymphalidae) Sub: True Brushfoots (Nymphalinae) Wingspan: 5.7 to 7.6 cm. (2.25 to 3 inch) Above: Orange with brown spots. Below Variable : Pinkish brown dead leaf look-alike - Hindwing has two small silvery spots that can show a question mark shape.Larval Host plant: Elm, Nettle.

Habitat:

Deciduous forest, moist woodland.

I raised 6 of these this year. They have beautiful blue outlines paired with bright orange, a very good lookimg butterfly.
