Description:

Clusters of purple, globular flowers subtended by papery bracts atop tall, thin stems. Thin, green leaves that look like blades of grass.

Habitat:

Spotted growing near a wet woodland. This plant easily escapes gardens.

Notes:

The leaves and flower heads have many culinary uses.
