A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Chelydra serpentina
Hatchling common snapping turtles.
Fresh water ponds, rivers, lakes, and swamps of North America.
I work under two wildlife rehabbers who focus on turtles, and I am blessed to have their trust in working with their patients as I prepare to take the test for my own license. These babies were in an incubator with a mix of play sand and vermiculite. Eggs like these have been recovered from mulch piles, etc.
