this is a real good educated guess along with some homework from some books I have. You are right...too many types! butterfly conservatories are awesome....until you are confused by a Caligo that came from Germany!
Ig, you're probably right. I know Caligo, but that's as far as I can take it. Especially from a butterfly garden. So many of them! (I do adore butterfly conservatories!)
I agree janson...this is a caligo. I suggested caligo brasiliensis sulanus. I am pretty sure I am correct.

Definitely genus Caligo, though I'm not sure of the species. Looks like Caligo eurilochus, but I'm not sure about range. Was this in captivity? Or in the wild?
