A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
This pecies was John Muirs' favorite bird. It is a dark grey bird with long legs, that bobs its whole body up and down during pauses as it feeds on the bottom of fast-moving, rocky streams. It dives o sinks underwater to forage larval aquatic insects and small fish.
It inhabits the mountainous regions of Central America and western North America from Panama to Alaska. Here found in the Roaring River, Kings Canyon, CA.
