Description:

Also known as Johnny Jump Up. It was introduced into North America by Europe. This small plant flowers from April to September. The flowers can be purple, blue, yellow or white.

Habitat:

Spotted near Tamarac visitor center. This plant grows in short grassland on farms and wasteland chiefly on acid or neutral soils. It is usually found in partial shade.

Notes:

This plant contains, especially the flowers, antioxidants and are edible. The flowers have been used to make dyes.
