Golden oriole (male)

Oriolus oriolus

Description:

Male has bright yellow and black plumage and red bill. Large, starling-sized bird with distinctive song. Surprisingly difficult to see in dappled foliage.

Habitat:

Widespread summer visitor to woods and copses. Spotted in tall trees, mainly of oak and eucaplyptus.

Notes:

Usually I just see (or hear) one of these birds - today I saw about 6, most likely a family as there was a female/sub-adult amongst them.
