Lynx Spider

Oxyopes javanus

Description:

A Lynx spider, family Oxyopidae, about 15mm in size approx. 2 orange longitudinal bands at head surrounded by white and orange, white and dark brown longitudinal bands on an elongated abdomen, long and spinous legs. Eyes are arranged in three distinct rows. Females have diagonal white bands on the sides of the abdomen.

Habitat:

Spotted at Nusa Dharma Island, Nusa Dua - Bali, Indonesia / Coastal area.

Notes:

Lynx spiders are direct hunters and do not build webs. A female spider can produce as many as 200 to 350 spiderlings in her lifetime of 3 to 5 months. Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Arthropoda Subphylum: Chelicerata Class: Arachnida Order: Araneae Infraorder: Araneomorphae Family: Oxyopidae
