Woodpeckers´nest

Dendrocopus spp.

Description:

When you see a hole like this in a tree wait a bit and most likely a woodpecker will show up. In this case it even had babies that we could hear from outside but our group was unfortunately too big and noisy and we spooked the parent before we could make pictures. We saw that he/she flew away quickly into the woods and waited for us to pass by. after he/she quickly returned but again too fast for pics.

Habitat:

Woodlands.

Yes, it was a shame that we had to follow the group, otherwise we may have been around long enough to photograph the parents coming in and out the nest.
