Dictyopharid planthopper

Description:

A hopper from the family Dictyopharidae which is well represented in Indonesia but not in the Australasian region, which (it would seem) includes New Guinea (bio-geographically). < http://www1.dpi.nsw.gov.au/keys/fulgor/d... >

Habitat:

Spotted on spikemoss (Selaginella sp.) along a transect in secondary coastal lowland mixed freshwater swamp forest/sago swamp forest.

Notes:

Structural similarities can be seen in these specimens (top row is from New Guinea) http://ecoport.org/ep?SearchType=slidesh...
