the off-white cap of the Pluteus growing in mulch is different than the brown cap of the Pluteus growing on wood (logs). If it's a matter of a different variety, it would be Pluteus cervinus var. alba. It could also be a distinct species requiring a different name. It's a common Central Park inhabitant.
