Nyctanassa violacea
A basically grayish colored bird. I has a white/yellow crown w/ trailing feathers from the back of its head. Their eyes are red. There is a white stripe beneath the eye.
This bird was observed in the mangroves, sitting watching the shallow water at the entrance to a city marina entrance along Tampa Bay.
