Barred Owl

Description:

Sitting on an Oak the mother owl and her owlet Send a string of hoo's to each other to communicate. Being nocturnal, the barred owl swoops from a perch to pounce on it's prey; it eats mostly mice, voles and squirrels, also sometimes eats amphibians.

Habitat:

Mature coniferous and mixed wood forests. Especially dense stands near swamps, streams and lakes.
