Two-Tailed Swallowtail

Papilio multicaudata

Description:

The butterfly is already old and her wings are quite worn out and the the tail is almost gone but by the pattern of the black stripes it seems to match better with the two-tailed than with the Western Tiger. Quite a senior beauty!

Habitat:

Riverside area between Cedar Grove and Zumwalt Meadow, Kings Canyon, CA.

Many thanks Caleb and the rest. I went in the cold river way in until I could reach the part where the butterfly was hanging out!..it was worth the frozen feet ;-)
