Carolina Chickadee

Poecile carolinensis

Description:

These little guys are one of the small birds that frequent our feeders. They are another safflower eater. They are about the same size as the Carolina Wren and the Titmouse. They are commonly mistaken for the Black-capped Chickadee. However the calls and pattern are slightly different. These little guys like the Titmouse and the Wren take the seeds up to the tree and either eat them or hide them from other birds. They are a fast bird taking their pictures requires a lot of patients and skill.

Habitat:

Feeders, Heavy wooded areas, residential areas, and parks.
