Sassafras albidum
Medium to tall tree with heterophyllous leaves.
Growing as an under story tree. Hilly to mountainous terrain.
The different types of mature leaves makes me think of Sassafras but I'm not sure.
This tree is one of my favorites. The roots have an incredible taste and aroma. The original 'root beer' flavor.
