Slender-billed Gull; Gaviota Picofina

Larus genei

Description:

Spotting number 13,000.
This is an uncommon species in Spain, with most breeding in the Ebro Delta of north-east Spain and just a handful (perhaps 20 pairs) in the Marismas de Guadalquivir about 40 miles east of here. Most spend winter in the Ebro delta area but this one is probably from Guadalquivir.
Picture 3 shows a nice comparison with the Black-headed Gull.

Habitat:

Coastal tidal marshes, in the old salt pans on the western side of the causeway just north of the river.

Wow! Congrats on the incredible 13,000! I've never seen this species myself and it's great to have it on the same photo as a Black-headed gull as in pic 3.
