Rufous-bellied Niltava (Male)

Niltava sundara

Description:

Male - forehead black; crown, rump, shoulders and a neck patch bright ultramarine blue. Sides of head and back dark purplish blue. Except for purplish throat rest of underparts rufous-orange.

Habitat:

Himalayas from Pakistan to Arunachal Pradesh up to 2300 m and south in the hills of North Eastern states of India in summer; foothills and adjacent plains in winter.

Notes:

Niltava sundara (sundar in hindi means beautiful) and this bird is truly beautiful. Spotted him within the bushes of Sarahan Pheasantry area. "Description and Habitat given from Salim Ali's Book of Indian Birds".
