Description:

Markings as per attached photos.

Habitat:

This was spotted in an urban area on a golf course. These birds stayed in the area until early Spring, and were presumably migrating north from here. This area is adjacent to the Mojave Desert.

Nice spotting! I've seen plenty of northern flickers, but I've never noticed one with a black heart. Amazing!

Never knew a black heart could be so attractive ....looks good on the bird...as if it is wearing a cravat. Thank you for sharing.
