This group of Elk were hanging out in a mountain meadow west of Denver. Several young babies were in the group but just refused to come closer for a picture!! ;-)

A belated thank you to captain nature!!
Nice Spoting
Thanks Karen!
Maria, she's saying "Come a little bit closer to my baby, why don't you??? You'll see I can do more than chew my cud!!" No thanks!!! ;-)
Lovely series Christy!
The expression on the elk's face in the first photo is great (would make for a nice caption contest)
I'm sure there was wildlife affected by all the fires we've had, but none of the fires were close to this meadow...thankfully! I can't imagine that all the animals can get out of the path of a raging firestorm...so devastating! The news channels do talk about the pets that have been rescued, but there's not much they can do about the wildlife.
Were they effected by the fire?
