Eastern Gray Squirrel

Sciurus carolinensis

Description:

Squirrels raiding my bird feeder. For about a month, one squirrel would show up at the feeder in the afternoon to eat sunflower seeds. A week or two ago, another started to join it. Today, I looked outside to see 5 of these little guys munching on all the bird food.

Habitat:

Bird feeder in my yard, next to wooded area & large pond.

Notes:

Birds rarely go to my feeder when the squirrels are there. Occasionally a bird or two will swoop in for a quick seed, but most of them keep their distance.
