Geastrum triplex

Geastrum triplex

Description:

A leathery pink spherical skin splits open to reveal another small sphere of silvery grey which comtains fine dusty spore.

Habitat:

Very wet and dark short eucalyptus forest next to a stream.

Notes:

I just had to touch this one to see how firm the small grey sphere was. It was so soft it dented immediately - DOH!! should have taken the pics before touching it.
