Stagmomantis carolina
This is a young Carolina mantis --Stagmomantis carolina-- hanging out in my backyard. I was laying in the hammock when the young one showed up in the chair next to me. Having my camera ready for anything, I started to take some shots and it soon jumped from the chair and onto me, on the hammock. Then, another little jump and it was on the hammock cross bar, making its way through adventure and danger. Heh. A cool little arthropod. [jansonjones http://dusttracks.com]
