Description:

Leaves are cordate, basal and hairy. Flowers hide under the protection of the leaves.

Habitat:

Moist forests around conifers.

Notes:

Thank you all! I don't know, Craig, I haven't harvested from the wild. I read that the colonies can be very sensitive so it is advised to only harvest from the outer edge of a large, well established colony. I generally encounter this delightful plant on trails of national parks so harvesting wouldn't be an option.

Nice spot of a wonderful little plant. Do the rhizomes have a taste similar to culinary Ginger? I've often wondered if there was a shared flavour between these two unrelated plant families.
