A medium sized fish. Found hiding under a large rock in a tidepool. Brown and black speckled with grey. Rayed, fan-like pectoral fins.

It's a greenling, most likely a female kelp greenling (Hexagrammos decagrammos) though the color seems off.
It's not a black rock fish. Rock fish have spines on their dorsal fins and the body shape looks wrong. Good luck though!
Hi Alexander! Could you please kindly crop the first picture so that the emphasis in on the fish. At Project Noah we prefer to have wildlife only featuring on the pictures. Alternatively you can bring the second picture in first position. Thank you for your understanding.
