Anolis carolinensis carolinensis
This green lizard has a with a pink/orange throat that extends. The fourth image shows its eye somewhat resembles a Chameleon although they don't move separately.
Anole's are not native to California although there have been several reports of Anolis carolinensis and Anolis sagrei in California. This one was spotted running around free at the San Diego Zoo. It could be an escapee from an exhibit but based on some local blogs, there are several in San Diego.
This was spotted by one of my teen nature enthusiasts :)

The hot weather probably brought out a lot of snakes on the mountains.
It is fun although sometimes we spot the same thing and have to flip a coin to see who gets it :) You have more higher elevation spottings. I'm hoping to hit the mountains next week and see what I find.
It must be a lot of fun setting out together!Looks like you do have a lot more variety. I am 45 minutes away from the ocean.
Thank you Emma. She was named after the Coral reef I saw on my honeymoon :)
Your daughter must have great observation. I also liked Coral's Passion flower spotting. She has a lovely name too!
I'm with you about the Newts and salamanders! I've been looking for months. Perhaps I need to increase my elevation where the water is less affected by humans.
I think her young eyes were the only chance of seeing this one! She loves to point out wildlife for me :) I hope she gets a PN account someday but enjoys the "hunt" for organisms with her sister and I rather than the photography.
Quite eager to see these . Newts and Salamanders and Skinks too!
How does it look in real? Must be hard to spot with all that green!
Amazing !
