Halcyon smyrnensis
Head, Nape and Abdomen are rufous to chocolate brown in color, red bill. Bright royal blue back and tail with black primaries and secondary tips. White throat to centre of breast in adult. Females seem to have paler underparts.
Well distributed in the whole archipelago, native but not endemic to the Philippines. Food choices range from small fish to crustaceans, insects and toads. Occasionally opt for small reptiles and rodents.
