I chased Andean White Butterflies during my whole hike and was finally able to get these photos. The butterfly looks like it was bitten on the wing--possibly by a bird.
Feeding on white yarrow (Achillea millefolium) along the hiking trail to Lago Torre, El Chalten, Argentina.
The white butterfly ( Tatochila Theodice ) is a species of Lepidoptera ditrisio the family Pieridae endemic to Chile . Generalized white, with small white areas surrounded by black on the edge of the wings. It is distributed in Chile, between the Region of Tarapacá and Los Ríos Region . Wikipedia
