Ten-lined June beetle

Polyphylla decemlineata

Description:

Also known as a Watermelon beetle. It was about 1 inch long, and it hissed a lot when I picked it up (in a cup). I thought it might be spraying something, but I think it was just a hiss...I didn't smell anything or see any cloud of mist. I brought it in my room and set it on a black book for my background.

Habitat:

It was in the hallway of my apartment. (inside)

Sorry for my absence Carol.....I just sort of stopped for a while....No reason in particular. I guess I just got busy. I might have a couple things to add pretty soon.
Thanks. Smith'sZoo

Alice. It either hissed or was able to make some kind of hissing sound. So what are those thinks attached to it's face?....the big feet looking things.
