Basal wild ginger flower

Description:

This flower is from a type of wild ginger. They come right out of the ground with no visible stalks, They taste sweet and apparently were made into candies in the olden days. I have many on our property. But am told they are gettiing rare due to construction projects.

Habitat:

Growing near a creek along with bamboo.

Notes:

Relatively rare. We have quite a few on our property in Luzviminda, Palawan. But hard to find other shots of them. I'm told they just get ripped out for plantings of other edible plants.
