Description:

Smaller than the native Eastern Box turtles and less varied in color, Three-toed Box turtles are generally light brown and brown/yellow with dark brown carapace patterns.

Habitat:

Missouri, south to Alabama and Texas. Live in moist woodlands near fresh water source.

Notes:

This is Boudreaux, an ambassador Three-toed Box turtle at an Ossining nature preserve.
