Chamberbitter

Phyllanthus urinaria

Description:

Variously known as stonebreaker, shatterstone, gripeweed, leafflower or Bhumyamalaki in sanskrit. This valuable weed makes its self right at home in my garden. It has its way with all the flowering plants or the veggies. With all the seeds they bear underside of their leaves, they spread by design and are aggressively reproductive!

Habitat:

Although of Asian origin, the weed is widely found in all tropical regions of the world.

Notes:

I had to know about its benefits since I've seen it merrily grow along my garden plants. Until now I knew that it tastes bitter and works as a cure for jaundice. I find that it can also cure : hyper acidity, gastric burning, peptic ulcers, urinary disorders, diabetes mellitus, skin disorders, liver disturbances and anemia and also has anti bacterial and antiviral medicinal properties!
