Garden Orb Weaving Spider

Eriophora transmarina?

Description:

Golden yellow & orange marked spider, large bulbous abdomen, tiny black eyes, spiky legs. Closest identification found so far. Spider measured approx. 1.5cm body only.

Habitat:

Found on felled Stringybark tree on leaf with silken web attached to leaf in dry woodland forest.

Thanks Maria dB. It was initially overlooked as a leaf gall or gumnut as it looked almost identical amongst the leaves.
