Egretta rufescens
I do love reddish egrets. They look less-elegant and more beat-up than your standard variety great blue heron, but to me this adds an ethos of durability and toughness to the species. They're strong, powerful, and and deliberative organisms. This individual was ferociously weathering the wintery Atlantic seabreeze at Ponce Inlet in central Florida. Great spotting, Janson! I like Reddish Egrets much more than Great Blues, in fact they're one of my favorite birds of all time.
