Mockingbirds are pale gray with thin bills, long, usually upright tails, dark gray wings and white wingbars.

We have lots of mockingbirds in Northern California.i am surprised by the fact that Mockingbirds are way out of range!!

True on the mandible and after looking at the picture on a bigger screen I agree it's not a mockingbird. If its way out of range I need to submit a complaint to IBird and Cornell's Ornithology lab.

After more research I think it's a Female Brown-Headed Cowbird. Based on its very plain plumage, mandible shape and overall size

Way out of range for a Mockingbird, mandible is also the wrong shape. Looks to be a female Grosbeak of some kind.
