Lobed Cactus Coral

Lobophyllia flabelliformis

Description:

Lobed Cactus Coral colonies are generally dome-shaped, with thick corallite walls that have a fleshy appearance. Colors vary, but the most common in the Gulf of Davao are hues of brown and green. They feed on plankton and on the food generated by zooxanthellae that they host.

Habitat:

In the Indo-West Pacific, this species is found in most shallow reef environments, especially clear waters. L. flabelliformis is found up to 7m depth.
