Western Sandpiper

Calidris mauri

Description:

Sanderlings are a small gregarious shorebird. Their summer breeding colors are reddish, while their winter colors make them the palest of shoerbirds

Notes:

before I put the scientific name up, I would love confirmation that they are indeed sanderlings and not a similar shorebird

Thank you, Liam, I was going back and forth between the two species in my field guide. No one has yet spotted any real number of Sanderlings here, yet, but Westerns have been heavily spotted. I didn't know about the back toe.
