Wildcat; Gato Montés

Felis silvestris

Description:

When I first saw this I dismissed it as a stray cat, but I kept seeing it in the same area and nowhere near human habitation. I did an internet search and discovered the link in the reference field. It certainly has a good resemblance to it with the same markings on the face and a thicker than normal tail with dark tip but I did not get a good look at the legs before it disappeared into the reeds. They are known to have hybridised with domestic cats.

Habitat:

Coastal marshes
