flower-feeding march fly #1

Scaptia auriflua

Description:

A large fly with golden fleece three abdominal white 'buttons' and green eyes. The third image is a different specimen with some variation found on the next flower. It is featured in the next spotting in order to allow its own discussion thread.

Habitat:

Resting on queen Anne's Lace.

Notes:

I assumed these to be different gender but they appear to both be different females.
