Jequirity

Abrus precatorius

Description:

It is a red berry the size of a pea. It looks somewhat like a ladybug, with the top 2/3 red, and the bottom 1/3 black. It is also commonly known as a Rosary Pea, or a Crabs Eye. There are multiple brown leaves which hold many beans per leaf.

Habitat:

We found it in Tampa Florida, at Berkeley Preparatory School, on the edge of the small forest it holds. We actually found many of these plants.

Notes:

Everywhere we went at Berkeley it was one of the first plants we spotted.
