Mourning Dove

Zenaida macroura

Description:

"Plump-bodied and long-tailed, with short legs, small bill, and a head that looks particularly small in comparison to the body. The long, pointed tail is unique among North American doves." - Cornell Lab of Ornithology (see attached link)

Habitat:

Open woodlands to metropolitan regions and everything in between.

Notes:

This dove was seen in First Landing State Park as the sun was setting. These photos were taken with a Canon EF100-400 f/4-f/5.6 lens mounted on a Canon Rebel T2i.
