Cardinal (Male)

Cardinalidae

Description:

This little curious fellow is a Male cardinal. They often come to our feeders to feed on the seeds we have. Their favorite seed is safflower. They are a vey recognizable bird right when you see one. They have that bright red plumage and that distinctive tuft of feathers on top of its head.

Habitat:

most wooded areas and places with feeders.

Notes:

I was hunkered down behind a garbage can in my backyard when I took this shot. I stayed their for a long time getting this and other pictures. The birds that visit our feeders are very skittish and need to be approached slowly and you need something to hide behind to get the best pictures. This way you can not scare the birds and in return they feed and you get the pictures.
