Tokay Gecko

Description:

large (maybe a foot long) blue with orange and lighter blue spots, very pretty! yellow eyes, arrowhead shaped head. Clinging upside down on the roof of the shelter. Yellow eye has vertical slit through pupil!

Habitat:

Mangrove forest at the edge of the ocean in Ream National Park, Sihanoukville, Cambodia. See photo 3 for walkway from shelter.

Notes:

I didn't know until I just looked at these photos now that there were actually 2 of these clinging to the roof!

Thanks for the ID suggestion Lenny. These are lucky geckos in that they live where there are lots of bugs and not many humans!

A foot long - that's amazing ! I don't think any insect would be safe there...

That is a Tokay Gecko they are one of the largest geckos in the world and in the Asian countries in which it lives it is welcomed into peoples houses as a symbol of good luck. I love these geckos because they have a cool look. Nice picture.
