Description:

This delicate small (up to 20 cm tall) orchid is also known as "orchis vanillé" in French, due its its vanilla scent. It is found in alpine meadows and flowers from May to August. Its flowers are dark red, sometimes with a pinkish tinge.

Habitat:

Alpine meadow, alt. 2200 m ASL. The last shot shows the plant's habitat.

Notes:

Distribution: Scandinavia, Pyrénées, Alpe, Balkans, Geece.
