Downy False Foxglove

Aureolaria virginica

Description:

Plant, leaves alternate & lancet w/1 main vertical vein. Top surface is dark green, pale on the bottom. Petals are 5 & bright yellow. Were closed as opposed to open. Time was 2000 hours. * (Next morning 1 flower was open 1 1/4")* Stem in pics is 6" long.

Habitat:

Was on slope in a red clay soil, very shaded by cabins. Found by TJ In Cushing Mem. Park in Canton, Ga 30114

Notes:

In the Snapdragon Family, but a wildflower.
