V-marked Lady Beetle

Neoharmonia venusta venusta

Description:

Small Lady Beetle with black spots and V-shaped marking. Slightly pinkish tint. Is a major predator of the Imported Willow Leaf Beetle - Plagiodera versicolora (larvae and pupae). Imported Willow Leaf Beetle: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/117...

Habitat:

Ornamental Willow tree in a suburban garden.

Notes:

There were large amounts of adult Imported Willow Leaf Beetles in this tree. I actually spotted them a few days earlier. I am not surprised to find a predator of them here, though this is the first time that I can recall seeing this Lady Beetle species. I believe this is the first spotting of this species listed on Project Noah.
